IKP Centre for Advancement in Agricultural Practices (ICAAP) is a subsidiary of IKP Trust, an organization that was established in 2006 through a generous grant from the ICICI Bank. The mission and intention of IKP trust was to use their funding and resources to enable and promote the use and development of advanced scientific and technological knowledge.
IKP aims to provide leverage and advanced technology in the healthcare and life sciences sector for the progression and advancement of society as a whole. In order to accomplish its goal of societal development and improvement of quality of life, IKP has explored the intersection between technology and societal impacts through the creation and management of its subsidiary companies, such as ICAAP.
Within the scope of IKP’s mission, ICAAP focuses on the improvement of productivity and knowledge transfer for small-hold farmers in India by making knowledge more accessible to farmers. ICAAP leverages knowledge from research laboratories, academia, key stakeholders, and other farmers. ICAAP aims to equip farmers with the goal of long term sustainability.
ICAAP’s two main partners in this journey are International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). ICAAP’s partnerships have enabled the successful execution of several projects including an Advanced Agricultural Practice Knowledge Portal and an Extension Project in Thanjavur District, each of which have had a significant impact on the agricultural community in India. ICAAP continues to work with its partners and local stakeholders to develop programs, resources and funding to continue to improve and develop the Indian agriculture sector.
